An enquiry: why not Churchscape in US cathedrals & churches?
churches & cathedrals in england i can organise; and pay the bills – it costs me about $2,500 a week. in the US, this would become complex. i have been offered gracie in SF, but as a commercially promoted gig. that is, the cathedral is the venue, not a site of devotion for an alternative approach to communion. if i got paid enough to cover costs of a church "tour", the shows would be commercially promoted. if it’s a commercial promotion, it’s not the act of worship that is intended. if it’s not an act of worship, people who have parted with their hard-earned pay turn up with expectations & demands, and a celebration of the sacred is not part of their intent.
even in charity performances in English churches, characters arrive with cameras & album covers for signing!
